DSS (molecular weight: 36–50 kDa) was purchased from MP Biomedicals (Solon, USA). HD (C7H6O2, molecular weight: 122.12, purity, ≥ 98%) and HA (C7H6O3, molecular weight: 138.12, purity, ≥ 98%) were purchased from Yuanye Biology (Shanghai, China). Mesalazine sustained release granules were purchased from Ipsen Pharma (Houdan, France). 4-[2-Phenyl-5,7-bis(trifluoromethyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]-pyrimidin-3-yl] phenol (PHTPP)-selective ERβ antagonist (C20H11F6N3O, molecular weight: 423.31, purity, >99%) was acquired from Tocris Bioscience (Missouri, USA). Recombinant tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) was provided by R&D Systems, Inc. (California, USA). TNF-α, interleukin 6 (IL-6) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits were purchased from Hengyuan Biotech Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). An MPO activity assay kit was obtained from Nanjing Jiancheng of the Bioengineering Institute (Nanjing, China). HiScript RT Super Mix and Ace Q-PCR SYBR Green Master Mix were obtained from Vazyme Co., Ltd. (Nanjing, China). Rabbit monoclonal antibodies against E-cadherin (#BS1098) and β-actin (#BS6007 M) were provided by Bioworld (Minnesota, USA). The rabbit monoclonal antibody occludin (#27260-1-AP) was purchased from Proteintech (Wuhan, China). The rabbit monoclonal antibody ERβ (#bs- 0116R) was purchased from Bioss Antibodies (Beijing, China). All chemical reagents used in this study were analytical grade or chromatographic grade.
